The Annual Grade 6 Medical Screening Program was conducted by the Royal College Doctors’ Association in collaboration with the Loyalty Pledge Management Committee on the May 17th 2017 for the 14th consecutive year.
Over 650 students in Grade 6 were screened on this day, which was aimed at detecting undiagnosed medical, nutritional and dental problems.
A Student Medical Record book was handed over to each child a week prior to the medical camp to gather important information on medical and surgical problems.
At 7 AM, 60 Old Royalist doctors serving in different parts of the island congregated at Navarangahala to extend their healing hands to their beloved Alma mater.
Height and weight was measured of each student and they were subsequently screened for dental, eye and other medical illnesses. As a result of the extensive medical screening the Royalist Doctors were able to detect 91 Medical and Nutritional Problems, 46 Dental problems and 77 Eye Problems. The children were directed to tertiary care centers for specialized care. The Doctors from RCDA will continue to follow up the children.
