The Royal College Doctors’ Association in collaboration with the Loyalty Pledge Management Committee conducted the annual health screening programme for the grade 6 students on 10th May.
With the objective of screening the students who get admitted to the Royal College from the grade 5 scholarship exam from various parts of the country, this programme has since 2003 identified & made relevant specialized treatment many a medical conditions which have been hither to undetected.
Over 600 grade 6 students have been screened, out of which 238 were detected to have health problems such as nutrition, vision, etc., needing medical attention.
A detailed account of the problems identified, have been prepared &including the relevant specialized referrals,which was later handed over to the class teachers and the parents too will then be made aware of it.
The RCDA will continue to follow up the students who were detected to have medical problems ensuring them to achieve proper therapy & medication in the weeks to come.
A detailed report of the screening programme will be made afterwards & the RCDA intends to hand it over to the Principal, said Dr.LagathWanigabadu&Dr.KrishanthaPieris, the organizers of the programme.
