The RCDA conducted a workshop on “Bullying &Violence among school children” to the prefects & stewards of Royal College.
The request to organize a workshop of this nature, was made from the administration of the Royal College, in recognition of the importance of making the students group of the highest level, aware of the facts, which are related to the bullying and violence, which is becoming increased in frequency at present, than that we had experienced in the past.
The workshop discussed the legal and socio-economic aspects of bullying and violence, its impact on education of children, the ways and methods of addressing such situations as students and future leaders and administrators.
Dr.AjithThennakoon, the president of the RCDA & the consultant and the chief JMO, and Dr.MiyuruChandradasa, senior lecturer in Psychiatry, were the resource personnel for this workshop.
Highly impressed by the manner that, this workshop was conducted and the importance of the information& the message that was conveyed, Mr.B.A.Abeyratne, the Principal of Royal College had made a request to restage it to the students & parents of the upper school, for which the RCDA had dutifully obliged.
The RCDA is blessed with such prowess which stretches an unfathomable distance with numerous subspecialties in fields of medicine & health. Doubtless that the Royal College; our Alma mater too is blessed and benefitted with this good service and the versatility, that any other school in south-east Asia (if not in the world) is hard to obtain from an old boys’ group.
The RCDA should thank, Dr.AjithThennakoon&Dr.MiyuruChandradasa for their captivating and enthralling lectures.
The credit should also go to Dr.MaheshKumbuage&Dr.Lagath Udara who had organized this event.
